Privacy Policy

Hooked Fisherman ("we," "us") is operated by Connecticode LLC. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit hookedfisherman.com and how we use it.

What we collect

When you sign up for our newsletter, we collect your email address. When you create a Hooked Fisherman account (required to request a Wayfinder plan), we collect your email address and authentication credentials via Supabase Auth. When you request a Wayfinder plan, we store your trip inputs (location label, state, mode, date, target species, gear notes), the generated plan output, the conditions snapshot we used to produce it, and any rating or feedback you leave. When you upgrade to a paid Captain subscription, Stripe handles payment information directly — we never see or store your card details, only an opaque customer reference. We log standard web server data (IP address, browser, referring page) to keep the site running and detect abuse.

Wayfinder accounts and subscriptions

Wayfinder is an on-demand professional-grade fishing plan that helps you avoid wasted trips on the wrong spot, wrong species, or wrong time of day. To use it you must sign in. Free accounts get one plan per month; Captain ($2.99/month or $24/year) unlocks 30 plans per month, plan history, ratings, and trip-day dossier emails. Captain users can toggle dossier emails on or off in account settings at any time. We retain your plan history while your account is active so you can revisit past plans; we delete it on request. Payment processing is handled by Stripe; review their policy for how card data is handled.

AI-generated content

Wayfinder plans are generated by Anthropic's Claude AI. The information we send to the model is the trip inputs you provide plus a public-data conditions snapshot (NOAA buoy readings, USGS gauge readings, Open-Meteo weather, NOAA tides, solunar windows). We do not send your email address, payment information, or any identifier that ties the request back to you. Anthropic's data handling for API requests is described in their privacy policy. Generated plans are guidance based on aggregated public data — they are not a substitute for local knowledge, current regulations, or your own judgment on the water.

Cookies

Like most websites, we use cookies — small text files stored on your device — for basic site functionality and to measure how visitors use the site. Third parties we work with (Google Analytics, Google AdSense) also set cookies, described below. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site may not work as expected without them.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, what device and browser they use. Google Analytics sets cookies and may collect your IP address (anonymized). We do not use Analytics to identify individual visitors. You can opt out via the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

Hooked Fisherman displays advertisements served by Google AdSense and, from time to time, other third-party advertising networks. These networks use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to serve ads that may be based on your prior visits to Hooked Fisherman and other websites.

• Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to serve ads on Hooked Fisherman based on a user's prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
• Opt out of personalized advertising by Google via Google Ads Settings.
• Opt out of personalized advertising by many other third-party vendors at the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information we hold about you. California residents have rights under CCPA; EEA and UK residents have equivalent rights under GDPR. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@hookedfisherman.com. We do not sell personal information to third parties.

Children

Hooked Fisherman is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Unsubscribing

Every email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also email us at hello@hookedfisherman.com to be removed from any list.
