Fishing Run Trackers
Some fish are a matter of timing more than spot. These trackers read every fishing report we collect, from both coasts and the Gulf, and show where each run is being reported right now, state by state, with the water temperature on the newest report and a month-by-month record of when the fish showed up.

What we track, and what we do not
A run gets a tracker only when the reports we collect can show it: enough reports that tag the fish by name, in the states where it runs. Every number on these pages traces back to a published report, and the water temperatures come from NOAA buoys, NOAA tide stations and USGS stream gauges.
River herring are not tracked. No report we have collected tags river herring as a fish anglers are after. They come up often, but as baitfish that stripers and other fish are feeding on. A tracker would be an empty table, so there is not one.
We do not predict runs. When a tracker says nothing is being reported, that is what the reports say, and each tracker shows when the fish turned up in our records before.
