Why a lip gripper: When landing fish for release, a secure grip prevents fish from thrashing and injuring themselves or the angler. Proper grip with a tool reduces the amount of time the fish is out of water and stress during unhooking.
Grip types: - Clamp (Berkley style): Trigger-release clamp grips the lower jaw. Most common for freshwater. - Wide-jaw grip: Larger clamp for bigger saltwater fish (stripers, bluefish). Wider spread accommodates thicker jaws.
